Singable Books for All Ages
If you read my last post on books based on popular songs, this one is its slightly different cousin. These are singable picture books, which is to say, books that either have their own built-in melody or repeating musical part that you sing as you go. Some have a CD or QR code so you can hear the tune, some you can set to whatever melody fits, and a few have become so iconic that there's basically one "right" way most therapists sing them. Either way, singable books are some

Picture Books Based on Popular Songs (That You Can Actually Use in Sessions)
Books based on popular songs are some of my favorite tools to bring into sessions. The melody is already familiar, the lyrics already live somewhere in the client's brain, so the book becomes an easy anchor for vocal participation, joint attention, sequencing, lyric work, all of it. And honestly? They're just fun to read! Here are 20 song-based picture books I love (or have on my "next to buy" list), grouped by what they tend to do best in session. Bookmark this one! Some of

Online Music Brainteasers I Love
If you played Wordle when it took over the world a few years ago, you know the feeling — one little daily puzzle, share your score, brag a little, repeat tomorrow. Well, somewhere along the way, the music world got in on this and now there are SO many music brainteasers out there. And let me tell you, these things are pure gold for music therapy. My Favorite Phone Apps for Music Therapy
A little while back (like last week-lol) I put together a post about my favorite free music-making websites for therapy and education. This one is the sequel: my favorite music-making apps. These are the apps actually living on my work iPad right now. Some are free, some are paid, all of them earn their keep in real sessions with real clients. I work with kiddos, teens, adults, older adults, and folks in mental health and rehab settings — so this list is all over the map popu

Musical Game: Fill in the Song Titles
This game, originally played on Kelly and Ryan, was posted in a music therapy Facebook group and I just knew I had to make it! I made two options. 1. For Groups/ Large Matching Cut out the strips of titles and the words for the word bank. Put the words in the correct song title. Do this in teams, in a group, or try having group members act out the desired word in order for somebody to be able to fill in the blank- the possibilities are endless! Find this version here: (I know
